Electric and induction hob installation for your home
An electric or induction hob must suit the worktop opening and the new model's installation requirements. We review the proposed fitting and electrical connection before confirming the work.
Fitting types: Electric and induction hobs fitted into a worktop.
Details that help us prepare
Provide the replacement model, worktop material and existing opening dimensions if known. Mention an oven or drawers beneath it and any planned worktop or electrical changes.
- The old and new model numbers and when the replacement will be available.
- Safely available measurements and photographs of the fitting position, if useful.
- Existing connections and any changes you already know are needed.
- Whether disconnection, removal or disposal of the old appliance is required.
- The full property address and any access arrangements for the visit.
Before fitting an electric or induction hob
What affects electric or induction hob installation cost?
The quote depends on the proposed model, existing worktop opening, access and electrical requirements. Tell us about any cutout or supply changes already identified. Worktop alterations and electrical preparation are not automatically part of fitting the new hob. The office reviews the request and agrees the scope before confirming an installation price.
Will a new hob fit the existing worktop cutout?
The installation drawing needs checking against the opening and the space below it. A hob's visible glass width does not establish its cutout dimensions or depth. Tell us the worktop material, model and any measurements already available, plus whether there are drawers or an oven beneath it. Do not remove the old hob to obtain details for an initial enquiry.
Can an induction hob use the old hob's power supply?
That must be assessed against the new model's electrical specification. An existing supply is not automatically suitable for a replacement with a different load. Send the product reference and known requirements; leave wiring and covers alone. A suitably qualified professional must assess necessary circuit work and any applicable installation requirements before the work is agreed; this page cannot certify an electrical installation.
What if I am replacing a gas hob with induction?
This installation service covers electric and induction hobs. Work on an existing gas connection is outside that scope and needs an appropriately qualified gas professional. The new electrical supply and worktop fit also need assessment. Tell the office that the old appliance is gas so the request is reviewed correctly; do not disconnect or alter it yourself.
Does the space underneath a hob matter?
Yes. The proposed model may need specific ventilation and separation from an oven, drawer or cupboard below. An apparently matching worktop opening is only one part of the fit. Share what is underneath and the model's installation information. Required cabinet or protective-panel work should be discussed in advance and included only when agreed.
Does a venting hob need more than a worktop opening?
Yes. A hob with an integrated extractor needs its airflow arrangement considered as well as the cutout and electrical supply. Send the model and say whether air is intended to go outside or recirculate. Ducting, filters and the space used inside the cabinet can affect compatibility. The office must review this specialist fitting request before confirming what work UKCDA can provide.
Can I request hob installation with an oven or cooker hood?
Send both model references and explain what they replace. Oven-and-hob fitting needs the housing, cutout, clearances and electrical requirements assessed together. For a separate hood above the hob, its mounting height and extraction or recirculation arrangement also need review; that is different from a hob with an integrated extractor. The office confirms the combined scope, preparation and price before booking.
What should I send for a brand-specific hob installation enquiry?
Provide the exact model, hob type, postcode, worktop material and existing opening dimensions if known. Samsung, Siemens, Bosch and other ranges can have different cutouts and electrical loads. The office checks those details rather than treating every hob from one brand as interchangeable. Availability and the agreed work are confirmed before booking.
AEG's hob preparation guidance highlights cutout, space and electrical-load checks. The model's own instructions and a qualified assessment determine the work; AEG's installation terms do not define UKCDA's quotation.
Send the fitting details for your address
UKCDA accepts installation enquiries across London and all areas inside the M25, throughout Surrey, and across DA and RM postcodes. Check your full postcode, then send the exact model and proposed fitting position. The office confirms suitability, the agreed scope and appointment availability. Manufacturer references provide background guidance and do not imply that UKCDA is authorised by those manufacturers.
Agreeing your installation
Installation work and charges are agreed for your model, fitting and existing connections before an appointment is confirmed. Removal, disposal and changes to cabinetry, plumbing, electrical supplies or ducting are included only when expressly agreed in the quotation.
Submit the fitting details and our office will confirm the price and appointment. Installation is quoted separately from repair work, and this enquiry form does not take payment.
