What to include in a repair request

Prepare an appliance repair request with the model number, fault symptoms, postcode and access details so UKCDA can assess suitability before booking.

What to include in a repair request

A few useful details help the office understand the problem and arrange the next step.

  1. Name the appliance, brand and full model, if you can find it safely.
  2. Describe the symptoms and when they happen: at the start, during the programme or at the end.
  3. Write down any error code exactly as it appears. Avoid repeatedly restarting an appliance that trips the electrics.
  4. Tell us if it is integrated, stacked or difficult to access, and provide your full postcode.
  5. Add the best visit contact number. If you are a landlord or agent, explain who can provide access and who approves the repair.
  6. Mention any recent appliance installation, kitchen alterations or work on nearby connections, and explain when the symptoms first appeared. These details describe the circumstances without assuming which component has failed.
  7. The enquiry form does not take payment or reserve a visit. The office reviews the appliance and work, explains applicable charges and confirms availability. Additional parts or repair work are discussed before you decide.

These are preparation tips, not instructions to dismantle or repair an appliance. If something is unsafe or difficult to access, leave it for the engineer.

PREPARING YOUR REQUEST

Start with the appliance and the symptoms.

Give us the brand, full model and what you noticed during normal use. Include whether it is built in, stacked or difficult to access. Leave covers, fitted appliances and electrical connections in place.

We review the details, explain applicable charges and confirm availability before arranging a visit.
